Little Flower Learning Center

We Don't Grow Flowers, We Grow Kids!

WELCOME TO LITTLE FLOWER LEARNING CENTER ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Motivating Kids to Read. Motivating kids to read can be somewhat a challenge.  You, as a parent know that reading is very important to your child in many different ways. Read more about this topic.

Trick or Treat. Trick or Treat will be held here at the center for your children and the community on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 3pm.  This will include our annual costume contest and activities and of course candy!  Please plan to bring your friends.

Halloween Class Party. Please see your child's teacher about bringing something to share with the class on Halloween Day.  Class parties will be as usual on Halloween Day in each classroom.  Please feel free to send your child in costume with extra clothes for later or send the costume to put on later.

Health and enrollment papers are being sent home this week Please fill them out completely.  This is a form that is check by our state specialist during our inspection time.  If it is returned to you with highlighted areas, please make an effort to make corrections quickly and get them turned back in.  Thank you so much for your help.

You may pay your lunch money and field trip money with your tuition nowPlease write in the memo section of your check what it is for.

Gymnastics is a privilege that we feel the children who attend really enjoyThe challenges set forth for the children are designed to build on each other.  You will be receiving a form which shows your child's achievements throughout their semester in the class.  If you have questions about this please see Aimee or your child's teacher.

If you are throwing out gently used toys to create more room for Santa... please allow us to find a new home for them.  Our Christmas tree this year will have requests from the teachers for certain classroom items that they may need.  If you have one of these items around your house and are willing to donate it for your child's classroom, please take an ornament and return with that item for that class.  Thank you for your help!

Christmas Shopping... many of you will begin shopping soon.  If you need care for your child on a Saturday for shopping purposes, please let your teacher know that you are interested and to put your child on the Saturday schedule for the hours of your choice.  The price will be the daily rate for that age group.

We are going through a growth period right nowWe would like to let you know a little about some of our new teachers.  Please take the time to read the bios that are beginning to be posted outside of your child's classroom.  You may meet someone you didn't know yet.  How many Amys, Brittanys, and Sarahs do we really have here?

PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD'S INITIALS ON THEIR LUNCHBOXES, COATS, HATS, SHOES, AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS.  Ask your child's teacher where his or her shoe cubby, mailbox, extra clothes bin, and locker hooks are.  They should have tags with your child's name on them.  When you drop your child off please place their things in their own classroom and then bring your child to the opening room.  This will help the teachers a whole lot.  We don't want your items to be misplaced.  If they start where they belong, hopefully they will end there also.  If you take something home with you that is not yours, please return it to the classroom teacher.  Thank you for your help.  Together... we can make a difference.

Winter is coming!  Please dress for the cold.  We will go outside even on cold days.

Something on their feet. Children must have something on their feet.  We do monthly fire drills.  Please make sure that your child has indoor shoes or crocs or slippers to wear in case they have to evacuate.  Please help your child change their shoes in their classroom before you take them to the room they are opening in.  This avoids any confusion with shoes being in the wrong room because you can take the outside shoes off and put them in your child's shoe cubby and get the indoor shoes out to put on.  This is really helpful.

Little Flower will only be giving medication that is scheduled to be given at 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm. At no other time will we administer medication, with the exception of sunscreen and diaper rash cream. Please be sure to fill out your medication slip as shown on the medication form attached to the form folder.

Little Flower is working toward being a part of the Step Up to Quality Program. Step Up to Quality Program is a voluntary, three-star quality rating system for early care and education programs in Ohio. Programs can earn a 1, 2, or 3-star rating by meeting Ohio's Quality benchmarks. Step Up to Quality proves these advantages: Low Teacher/Child Ratios, Smaller Group Sizes, More Teacher Training, and a Better Early Educational Experience for Children. Currently, there are no centers in Mercer County that participate in Step Up To Quality. Mercer county is the last of three counties in the state of Ohio to participate. Little Flower is aiming to get us on the map! This a very exciting program that greatly benefits the children and their families. Please join us in working toward this.
